Ajadi!

Ajadi oooooo
Ajadi omo Olakunle. Ajadi iko omo olokun esin
Ajadi the great hunter; ogboju ode
Ajadi is a brave but stubborn man
Ajadi is like ewure the goat only in human form
Ajadi will listen to no one but himself
Not even Eledumare; he is a god unto himself
Ajadi oosa ti o l’eewo
Ajadi alagidi; alaigboran omo
Ajadi entered igbo alale simply because “the mangoes there are sweeter”
How did he know this?
Legend has it that no ordinary human enters igbo alale and comes out alive
But Ajadi came out alive and with stories too. Stories about the gods –– Awon alale, awon irumole, awon iwin eleni ati akanda eda –– not forgetting the sweet mangoes too
Ajadi has been warned severally by baba ifa to desist from entering igbo alale
But he would not hear! The mangoes are too sweet to go to waste and Ajadi is too greedy to let go
Ajadi is the proverbial omo alaigboran. Only destruction will teach him a lesson.
The gods are slow to react but their reaction can be fatal. A blow is all it will take for the lesson to be learnt.
Slowly but surely, the gods are gathering momentum for the blow against Ajadi.
Baba ifa is sounding his warning! . . . A ki ni k’omode ma d’te to ba tile d’agbo gbe
It seems Ajadi is ready to live in the bush alone hmm ... Ajadi....
Let us pray that Ajadi won’t pay the ultimate price for eating the sacred mangoes
